He lowers his window and asked the women if this is what she is doing. She admits yes, and states that he had taken a wooden box out of her store- stealing it. He said to her that it was brought in for size reference for the art project.
My boyfriend and I went into this store today in search of some objects for an art project- we brought a small cigar box with us for size reference; a worker there who was outside when we pull up and told us about the sales before we continued inside the store. (She did not once ask about the box in hand.)
Needless to say, there is not a chance my boyfriend or myself will ever be back to this establishment- honestly not that there's any real main attraction to it, unless you're looking for overpriced yard sale items. I highly suggest the many other better and more pleasant stores around the Woodsville area. You don't need to waste your time and frustration on this place.
I have been coming into this shop for about two years now, I love this place . Every one is so friendly and they have many thing to choose from. Prices are very fare. I would tell anyone to go in and see for yourself what they have. They have always treated me with the up most respect, weather I was spending five dollars or fifty. they very much appreciated my business.
We exit the shop, kinda bummed we didn't find anything but still we know it's not always a win going in consignment shops ; that's what we like about it, the search. My thoughts about the shop were decent, lots of things for almost everyone.
We couldn't believe what just happened- in complete shock and awh of her actions. Never have I been so poorly treated at a store, and I have brought in objects before to other consignment/thrift etc stores. If any worker had a question as to why I had something with me had the decency to ask directly and I have never had an issue of explaining myself and why I brought it in; most even offer to help me search for anything specific- there are ways of being a concerned professional business owner, and ways to go about it childish.
Making it back to the car, we backed up ready to leave, and my boyfriend noticed one of the workers, (not the one that greeted us outside initially) had come outside with her phone propped up right in her hands taking a photo(s) of his car/ license plate.
My boyfriend comments on the security camera sign outside that says they are actively in use. (Which is common in many stores, we highly respect the use of them- we both have experience in small business, know how thievery is always a main concern.)
The fact that I have to put even one star on here is upsetting to me. Today, I walked into This Plus That Consignment searching for some items for a project I'm working on. Knowing that from time to time they redeem themselves with the sparse one or two items of value, albeit overpriced and basically amounting to no more than an indoor yard sale, I was willing to pay for the right item(s). We were greeted outside by a woman, who at first I didn't think worked there, but after she explained there current sale that was going on, it was quite obvious. In my hand, from the moment I left my car, was the main part of the project I'm working on; a cigar box that I bought a year previous from a former job. With previously mentioned employee looking at my girlfriend and I from almost the moment we left our vehicle, one would think that it would be quite obvious that I had something in my hand, so no need to mention, but some people may be born with boxes for hands, stranger things have happened. So we went through the shop looking high and low for items that may fit the mold that my ideas had made, but unfortunately, no luck. During the entirety of our visit we kept seeing signs for security cameras which were supposedly watching would be sticky handed customers. I have no problem with this since I've worked for and had shops that have had items walk off. So since we found nothing that peaked our interest, we decided it was time to leave. After reaching my car and attempting to start for home, I looked over my shoulder and noticed the owner standing outside. When we were getting ready to leave from inside the shop I noticed both present employees talking and seeming to be right in the middle of a conversation well inside, so the fact that she was instantly outside struck me as odd. Then I noticed the owners phone in the position that it would be in to be taking a picture of my car, more specifically the license plate. Having a quite mundane vehicle I rolled my window down to ask what the deal was and if she was in fact taking a picture of my car. She stated to me that I walked out of there with one of her items, apparently not sharing a single word with her fellow employee. I explained to her that it was an item that I brought in for size reference. She mumbled something and then fell silent steady looking down at her phone, no apology, no nothing. I then said "You have security cameras in there, correct? I suggest that you go check them" and then drove off. I have nothing against business owners protecting their stock but I absolutely do have a problem with being accused of something that I absolutely did not do. There's a way to go about problems like an adult in these situations, and an equal and opposite way; like a child. Being an artist for years, this was not my first time bringing an object into a store with me. When any employees have had a question about the origin of the item(s), they have come up to me in direct but mature ways and the questions have always been answered happily and honestly. The only items that I would remove from this establishment would be myself and my girlfriend whom will never be returning again, and to be honest, there are no redeeming qualities that would lead me to suggest anyone else visiting. This is only today, basically every time I've gone into This Plus That Consignment the owner has been short and always seems like you're waisting her time. There are plenty of far superior businesses in the area that you would have far better luck and customer service at including; White Mountain Trader (Woodsville, NH), Antique Rose (Woodsville, NH), Village Eclectics (Bradford, NH), Robert's Thrift Store (Bradford, VT), Swainsboro Antiques (Rumney, NH), Purple Peacock (Littleton, NH), Little Red Wagon (Littleton, NH), Just L (Littleton, NH), Cash Only Vintage (Littleton, NH), Ladders (Plymouth, NH), Community Closet (Plymouth, NH), and Junk & Disorderly (Plymouth, NH)
She mutter something and continued on her phone in the same position.
Browsing through their shop, looking for items that spark any inspiration for our project, we find ourselves unsuccessful in our search. Mind you all throughout our time here my boyfriend had the box WE BROUGHT IN in sight in his hands (and then mine when he need wanted to look closer at something) making our way through the many rooms, we end up back in the front of the store in a room where the two workers were in- they continued their conversations as we continued browsing he items in this last room; everything was pleasant so far.
This by far is the most unprofessional consignment shop I have ever been to.
He recommends that she watch the supposed security camera footage and let it speak for itself before jumping to any conclusions. She is silent at this point and we left the parking lot.
